Do this and your geraniums will be able to bloom almost continuously for over a year.

6. Water and aspirin treatment

A natural method to strengthen geraniums’ resistance involves the occasional use of a water and aspirin solution. Aspirin contains salicylic acid, which is known to induce defense responses in plants.

To prepare, dissolve a crushed aspirin tablet in a liter of lukewarm water. Lightly spray the solution onto the leaves, taking care to avoid wetting the flowers to prevent damage.

This treatment should be applied sparingly—as a one-time or occasional booster rather than a routine practice—to avoid stressing the plant.

7. Deadheading faded flowers

Regularly remove spent flowers through deadheading to encourage your geranium to redirect energy into producing new blooms. Leaving faded flowers on the plant signals it to produce seeds, which reduces flowering.

Use clean scissors or pinch off the flower stems just above the first healthy leaf node. This simple maintenance extends the blooming period significantly.

8. Pinching back growth

Pinching back involves trimming the tips of long, leggy stems to promote bushier growth and denser flowering. This technique stimulates lateral bud development, resulting in more flower clusters.

Pinch back stems when they reach about 6 inches in length, removing approximately one-third of the stem. Repeating this every few weeks during the growing season can maintain a compact, floriferous plant.
